Anna Speaks…

loves-winding-road-cover-2.jpeg

Welcome back to Anna’s World.  Sorry, ladies, but Cougar Bait can’t stay front and center forever, I had to let him go home…you can still read about him and look at his pics in my archives. It’s time to move forward and fill you in on all the latest things going on…and believe me…there have been a lot in the past few weeks.

First of all, there was some sadness in my world, as a dear friend, neighbor, and co-worker passed away suddenly. I have taken a few weeks off from my writing as I remembered her and paid my respects. I appreciate all the words of kindness from my friends as I dealt with this tragic loss.

In good news, things have really taken off and I’ve been really busy promoting my work. I was introduced to a lovely group of readers by my friend, author Sable Hunter. I’ve made some dear new friends and have gained some new readers. Thanks, Sable, for giving me the opportunity to meet your friends and for sharing your readers with me. A few of these new friends approached me about starting a Street Team for me. What this means is that they are helping me promote my books, sharing the news about them with other readers. We’ve had a lot of fun putting this together and are planning lots of fun things for the months to come. My team is called Anna’s Fab Friends, in honor of the Fab Five.

Look at what one of my team created for me…I absolutely love it…

Another good thing is the fact that I was pleasantly surprised to see the shiny Silver Star on the AllRomance site for The Road To His Soul…what a fabulous feeling to know that the readers made that happen by buying my book.

I also had my first public appearance this past week. I was asked to speak at a local women’s club about my books and my writing. It was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. I sold and signed my paperback books afterward and hopefully this will be the first of many such events.

I received the cover and blurb for my August Rebel release, Remember Our Promise. I’ll share that in a few weeks.

Book #4 in the Fab Five series will be released on July 10 from LazyDay Publishing. I’ll share a little of that with you today…Love’s Winding Road.

This is the unedited blurb…

The ‘Fab Five’ are back with even more drama in their lives. Marianne’s family is in turmoil, as both of her sons deal with life-altering decisions.

Young Dr.Jackson Jacobi is reeling from the sudden break-up with his long time girlfriend, Alexis, and her move to Paris to pursue a career in the fashion industry.

He is splitting his time between finishing his residency at a local hospital, preparing to open an orthopedic practice with another doctor, and helping his younger brother, Jordan, recover from a horrific automobile accident that left him unable to walk. Jordan’s dreams of becoming a pro-football player have been abruptly ended and Jackson tries to help him find a new direction for his future. Sworn off women after the break-up with Alexis, Jackson is pleasantly surprised to find he is attracted to his brother’s new physical therapist. Fiery redhead, Stacie Abbott, may be just what the doctor ordered for both Jackson and Jordan.

As Stacie and Jackson work together to ensure that Jordan walks again, they develop a playful, friendly relationship. The couple decides to take it to the next level, and enter into a passionate affair. But Jackson soon discovers that Stacie has trust issues. She was in love once before and it had ended badly. Her college boyfriend had left her to go back to his ex. As Alexis begins to cause problems for the new lovers, Stacie wonders if history is about to repeat itself. Will Jackson be able to convince her he is not like her former lover? Or will Alexis succeed in her quest to tear them apart?

Was that enough of a teaser to get you ready for it??? Or do you need a little excerpt too?

Stacie Abbott twirled a strand of her long, curly red hair as she studied the chart of her newest patient. Reading about what had happened to the young boy just about broke her tender heart.

“What’s wrong, Stacie?” her friend and co-worker, Ginger, asked as she walked into the office the two girls shared and sat down at her desk.

“I’m reading the chart notes for my new case. This poor kid has really had a rough time. He was on a football scholarship, with hopes of going pro someday. Now, that’s never going to happen.”

“Oh, that’s the doctor’s son who was in that horrible car accident back in May, isn’t it?” Ginger asked as she glanced at the chart on Stacie’s desk.

“Yes, it is. He’s home now. I’m to start going to the house for his therapy. He had some therapy while he was in the hospital. They want to start him off with sessions at home. He’ll come to the rehab center eventually as he progresses.”

“What’s his prognosis for walking again?” Ginger asked.

“At first they weren’t sure. Apparently he’s been making some progress. It’ll be slow going, but with a lot of therapy and some determination on his part, he should walk again. I just don’t know about his part of it, though. He has to be terribly down about all this.”

“Didn’t he see a counselor?”

“Yes, he did. I haven’t met him face to face yet. I start tomorrow.”

“From what I hear, the dad and brother are both docs and the mom is a nurse, so I’d think there’d be plenty of support there.”

“The brother is finishing his residency at Baylor. He’s planning to open an orthopedics practice. He should be very helpful.”

“Oh, that would be Jackson Jacobi. I met him once at a party. He’s really hot. At the time I met him he had a girlfriend, though.”

Stacie looked at her friend and rolled her eyes. “Of course you’d notice he was hot. I’ll let you know if I agree after I meet him. I’m sure I will meet him at some point.”

“Just saying, girlfriend, you might want to check him out.”

“I’m there to work, don’t forget.”

“But it doesn’t hurt to look, now, does it?”

Stacie shook her head and went on with her reading. When she finally put the chart into her bag and prepared to leave for the day, she looked over at Ginger.

“Dinner with me?” she invited.

“Sure, it’s not like I have a big date or anything,” Ginger said. “Where do you want to go?”

“I’d like Mexican, how about you?”

“Sure, let’s get out of here. Maybe we’ll find some cuties to buy margaritas for us,” Ginger teased.

“Do you ever stop?” Stacie grinned as she herded her friend to the parking lot. “Chuy’s okay with you?” she asked as they reached their cars.

“Fine, I’ll meet you there.” Ginger got into her car and started the engine.

Stacie pulled into the restaurant parking lot five seconds after Ginger did. The two friends went inside and chose to sit at the bar, rather than wait for a table.

As she perused the menu, Stacie looked up just in time to see the most gorgeous man she had ever seen in all of her twenty-six years. Well-groomed, well-dressed, with dark hair and perfect features, he was absolutely heart-stopping.  He was seated at the bar with a friend and the two were drinking tequilas. A plate of appetizers had been placed in front of them by the bartender, and the two men were talking as they ate. When the man happened to glance her way, he smiled briefly, then went back to the conversation he was having with his pal.

“Did you see that guy, Ginger?” she asked her friend breathlessly.

“Which one are you talking about?” Ginger asked as she looked around the bar.

“Directly across from us, the two guys drinking tequila,” Stacie replied, nodding toward them.

“Oh my God, Stacie, that’s him.”

“Him? Who? What are you talking about?” Stacie asked, in a confused whisper.

“That’s Dr. Jackson Jacobi, in the flesh.”

“You’ve got to freaking be kidding me. He really is hot. For once you and I agree. Oh my. This new assignment could get interesting.”

“Slow down, Stace, breathe deeply. Let the pro here give you some pointers on how to approach this situation.” Ginger giggled as she looked over at the two men again.

“Oh, this ought to be good.” Stacie teased her friend, rolling her eyes.

“The guy with him isn’t bad, either. I wonder if he’s a doctor too.” Ginger smiled in the direction of the two men.

“Quit looking at them and let’s order. I’m starved,” Stacie hissed.

The girls ordered their food. As they continued with their meal and conversation, the two men stood up to leave. Dr. Jackson Jacobi stood at least six feet tall, his build a perfect match for his height, as Stacie noticed immediately. When they walked past Stacie and Ginger, the men told them to have a good evening.

“Thank you,” Ginger gushed.

“Thanks, you do the same,” Stacie replied, smiling at Jackson.

After they’d gone, Stacie looked at her friend. “Do you think they caught on to the fact that we were discussing them?”

“I don’t know. For all we know, they were discussing us.”

“They didn’t stop to get acquainted, though, so that may mean they both are taken. That would be a damn shame, wouldn’t it?” Stacie asked thoughtfully.

“You really are looking forward to meeting him, aren’t you? I wonder if he’ll remember seeing you here.”

“I don’t know. If he’s at the house tomorrow, when I show up for Jordan’s appointment, I guess I’ll find out.”

When she had gone home to her apartment later in the evening, Stacie couldn’t help but wonder about the gorgeous brother of her patient. Finally giving in to sleep, she dreamed about Dr. Jackson Jacobi most of the night. Waking to the blast of her alarm clock, she sat up, rubbing her eyes. I’ve really got to quit thinking about that guy if I’m going to do my job. I’ve always been a professional, and I can’t let anything get in the way of that.

She was due at the Jacobi house at ten. After a leisurely breakfast, she hopped into the shower and, after toweling herself dry briskly with a fluffy towel, she dressed in her scrubs. Taking extra care with her hair and makeup, Stacie was finally ready to meet her patient and whatever family members might be present for that first meeting.

Ryan O’Leary Is In The House!!!!

Ryan balcony

Oh, things are hopping today in Anna’s World. Or maybe it’s just Anna who’s hopping. And believe me it’s a tad bit hot and steamy, too. My favorite Cougar Bait, Ryan O’Leary is in the house. Shh…don’t tell him, but I’ve locked all the doors and windows and he’s not getting out for at least a week. We’ve been throwing out little teasers on Facebook about this interview for the past week or so…Ryan says the interview took place in his shower…and I say I had my camera so I might have a few blackmail pics…

Ryan was one of the first people I met on Facebook after I began writing. One of the characters in my Fab Five series is named Ryan O’Grady and I often get asked if I named him for “our” Ryan. The answer is no, I didn’t, although “our” Ryan likes to think I did, since both Ryans are playboys. I actually wrote the first book in the series long before I met Cougar Bait.

All teasing aside, Ryan O’Leary is not only a sexy, sweet young man who knows how to keep his huge female fan base happy but he’s also one of the most talented writers I know. His short and sexy books about a young, married couple and their sexual escapades that involve bits of clothing from the wife’s closet are fantastic. If you like a short and sexy read and haven’t yet been introduced to the J’s Closet series, go check it out. Ryan also writes with Sable Hunter, who you met on this blog last week, and Sable’s brother, Jess Hunter, who I interviewed a few weeks ago.

Now get real comfy because you’re about to find out why I think this is one of the best young authors around, as well as just a really sweet guy.

 BIO

Rarely will you find Ryan O’Leary in a state of rest; if he’s not on the ice or kicking around a soccer ball, he’s plotting his next story or out on the town with friends. His fun and flirty nature makes it possible for him to write the kind of romance that makes the reader both smile and tingle.

Anna: What inspired you to choose your genre (genres)?

Ryan: Write for women? Write sex that will turn women on? What’s not to love? I only wish I had of thought of it earlier. That’s not entirely true, I did think of it years ago, but my plan was to write mainstream romance, not the hotter erotica I write now. One day I happened to stumble across an article on how to self-publish Ebooks. In the article they featured an erotic writer, so I figured I’d take a stab at it. I knew it’d be fun. I’m sure this’ll sound corny, but the most rewarding thing I get out of writing the stories that I do, is the thought that my words might turn a woman out there on. It’s the number one reason I do it, so don’t be shy ladies, Ryan wants to hear all about the effect his words have had on you.

Anna: Hear that, ladies? Don’t be shy! Whew…the effect his words have on me…Moving right along, we all have issues with balancing our time between writing, editing, promoting, along with other obligations and personal time. What works best for you?

Ryan: Liek most things in life (including life), I don’t take it too serious. Luckily, I’ve met a few people who have offered their assistance with all that other stuff that you have to do, the editing, the promoting, the blah, blah, blah. Without them, I’d be lost, unmotivated and probably not doing this interview with you right now. Instead, we’d just be sitting here, alone, a glass of wine in each of our hands, talking, laughing, smiling and I doubt that’d be very much fun for you. Writing isn’t my life, I do it for fun and I’ve said it a million times in public and in private, if it ever gets to be anything other than fun, I just won’t do it anymore. Uh, Anna, I think it’s your turn to talk now…

Anna: What? Oh, sorry, you had me at drinking wine, talking, laughing, smiling, and … Okay what’s next? Oh yeah, tell us about your characters. I’m surprised you write about a married couple in the Travis and J stories, what made you decide to do that? I noticed your little trademark “liek” in there too. Your fans have picked that up and are now spelling it that way…you’ve started a trend.

Ryan: Most times, my fingers work faster than my mind; some typos I just don’t bother correcting because I do them so often. The stupid games we play with each other when we first meet and are getting to know one another; that’s why I decided to write about a married couple. Sure, I love those games just as much as the next guy or gal, but Travis and J are married. Fuck that! Travis and J are SOULMATES. They just get each other. I just wanted to write about a couple who have already played those games, who just want to enjoy each other. Travis does the thing he does for J because he wants to do them, he loves to see her smile when he surprises her, not because he’s trying to get in her pants, but because her smile is his prize. The sex is great and all, but for me, when I’m writing about them, the payoff is that moment when he does something that makes her smile, or makes her laugh.

Anna: I’d say most women wish they had a Travis in their life. Now, tell me, who are some of your favorite authors? Did they inspire you to write?

Ryan: I don’t really have a favorite author. I have a lot of Stephen King books, but that’s only because my older brother is the one who got me reading and he had a lot of them. Thing with me is, I see something and if it interests me, I do it. I never set out to be a writer. When I was twenty-one I figured I’d try to write a novel, because I thought it’d be a something cool to do, something that would fill up some time and something I could look back on in fifty years, something I could read and see what kind of a person I was back then, see my thoughts and feelings. Anything you do artistically, be it painting, writing, dancing, music, whatever, it’s all a window into your soul and a time capsule of how you felt at that time. I forgot what I was trying to say. Oh yeah. I can’t say I was ever inspired to write, I just see something I want to try and I try it. I wrote that first book and I enjoyed it, so I wrote another, then another and I lieked it, so here I am.

Anna: Hear that, ladies? Ryan has an older brother…there are two of them! Oh…my…Sorry, getting off track again. Get serious, Anna. What has been the most difficult aspect of your writing career?

Ryan: Discipline. Oh and editing. Wait. And promoting. It’s all tough. You know that. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. I guess for me, it’s the discipline part. I’ll never be the kind of writer who sits down every day and writes, I write when I feel like it. Maybe I could churn out more work, but I’ve always moved at my own pace, in every aspect of life. Editing is my Achilles heel though. I’ll be honest; I don’t have a god damn clue what an adjective is, or an adverb is. Hell, up until a few years ago, I really didn’t even understand the difference between “there”, “their” and “they’re”. For the most part, I’ve figured a lot of it out and luckily I’ve got great help when it comes to spotting an incorrectly used “than”.

Anna: Now for the good stuff. Give us a little dirt about yourself. What’s your favorite guilty indulgence?

Ryan: Everybody wants dirt on Ryan huh? I hate to disappoint, but I’m really kind of a bore. Not much of one for indulgence. Women are my indulgence I guess. I don’t mean sleeping with as many as I possibly can, but I’ve got very active eyes, I’m always checking them out, wherever I go.

Anna: What’s it like to write with Sable? I’ve never co-written with another author, so tell   us how that works. Also, how did that come about? How did the two of you meet?

Ryan: It’s awesome and terrifying. She’s beyond words when it comes to talent. She has more ideas in her head than most people will have in a lifetime, it really is kind of scary the stuff she comes up with and I mean, scary good. I was actually extremely nervous when we first talked about writing together. We met on Facebook over a year ago and she kept trying to get me to let her help promote me and teach me new things, but I just wasn’t ready to do it, so she waited patiently, because that’s the best way to describe the way her and I work together. She waits patiently for me. She works at this frenetic pace that I didn’t think was possible, but she knows that I have a different style, a lot less structured and disciplined, so she lets me go at my pace. I often feel like I’m holding her up, but she keeps busy with her own stuff and other things. She’s patient with me, I never feel rushed or pressured, which is a great feeling when you’re already intimidated by working with someone you admire so much. How it has worked so far, is that we flesh out an idea. And I won’t lie and say that it’s a 50/50 split as far as the creative is concerned, she really is the driving force behind anything we do together, and it’s usually her idea. Then we discuss it, either on Facebook or via email. She’ll send me notes with her ideas; her storylines. Usually I say, “I love it all!” But if there is something I don’t like, or something I want to add, or tweak, I say so. If we agree, then we change it. After that, Sable divides the scenes. Did I mention how amazing she is at all this stuff? Because she really is a special talent. With our new book, Thunderbird for instance, we started with an idea and it changed, then changed again, and when we finally got down to writing it, she sent me a scene to write. “Ryan, I’d like you to write this scene where such and such takes place.” I say yes of course. I’m sure you’ve heard her accent; how could I possibly say no to her? Then I procrastinate. When I’m done procrastinating, I procrastinate a bit more, then get down to writing my scene. I send it back. We discuss any changes that may need to be made. Discuss any other changes, then she gives me another scene to write. Sable weaves her stuff in with mine. Make changes where and if needed. Bingo! Done. I thought it was going to be tougher to be honest, but it isn’t that hard if you’re familiar with the person you’re writing with. It’s a lot of fun once you get into a rhythm.

Anna: I agree with you. Sable is one awesome lady. So, now I want you to tell us about your newest project.

Ryan: I’m actually working on a few different things at the moment. Sable and I are discussing the next installment of our “It’s Just Sex” serial, but haven’t actually started it yet. I also got going on the prequel I guess you could say, to the J’s Closet short stories. I’m writing the book about how they got together, but that is on hold at the moment. What I’m actually devoting my efforts to (aside from soccer) is the first book in a series that Sable and I are writing, called The Equalizers. The first book is titled, Thunderbird and it’s the story of Hannah and Kyle. Thunderbird will be the first in a series called The Equalizers. This series will center around a group of six men who have bonded over their past and their vision for the future. Kyle Chancellor is one of those men. He is Thunderbird, a title he was given on the football field and perfected in the skies as a fighter pilot. He is a Heisman trophy winner, a war hero, and the heir to a Texas dynasty, yet he never hesitates to lend a helping hand to those in need. His group, The Equalizers, specialize in locating missing children and fighting battles for those unable to go it alone. When he returns to the States, he learns that his former girlfriend has died from liver disease. She had broken up with him, never telling him she was sick. He is devastated and drowns his sorrows at a bar – where he meets a beautiful young girl who is trying to spread her wings and learn how to fly.

Hannah Montenegro has led a life of sacrifice. After losing her mother to a dreaded disease, her family discovers the son has Lou Gehrig’s also. Hannah is made to feel worthless because her father wishes she was sick instead of her brother. They move to the United States from Mexico, with only fake papers. They live undiscovered in the Austin area, the picture of good citizens, but with no legal standing. Hannah devotes her life to taking care of her little brother Andre. One night, she has the opportunity to go to a bar with a friend and she grabs it. There she meets a man who sweeps her off her feet and into the back seat of his car.

They both had too much to drink, the memory of their time together is hazy, but their connection haunts them both. Neither knows how to get in touch with the other, which is disastrous, because the result of their one night stand is a little boy. Hannah adores Paulo, but her father takes him away from her. She is almost insane with grief.

As you can see, the story will be intense. Hannah will look for their child. And when she meets Kyle again, she is so tempted to unburden herself and throw her arms around him and beg for his help. But she is not of his world – she cleans his office, and she’s shocked to find that he has been recruited by the powers that be to run for the office of Governor. His stance on stem cell research, internet security and immigration has pushed him to the forefront of Texas politics. The chasm between them seems insurmountable – to Hannah. Not to Kyle. Kyle wants her. Kyle goes after her and the circumstances which throws them together could have been ripped from the front pages of today’s newspapers. Sex Tapes. Scandals. Political Intrigue. But woven through it all is the undeniable attraction of two people who are destined to be together. When love is the guiding force, there is no foe it cannot conquer.

So, I’m doing all of that and trying my best to be utterly fabulous on Facebook, but there’s always time to stop by and have a little chat with you, Anna.

Anna: Oh, you know you’re welcome here anytime. And as far as being utterly fabulous on Facebook, you’re certainly doing a good job of that! Thanks so much for stopping by. Can I reveal our little surprise for your fans now???

Ryan: I wish you would already, so we could get that glass of wine.

Anna: **smiles**

Anna Interviews Sable…Hot Men, Rum Raisin Ice Cream, and More

Finding Dandi I am so thrilled to welcome Sable Hunter to Anna’s World this week. As some of you know, Sable writes erotic romance and has quite a following. Her Hell Yeah series about the McCoy brothers are bestsellers. She also writes with her younger brother, Jess Hunter, and she is one lucky lady because she co-writes with my favorite Cougar Bait, that sexy young thing, Ryan O’Leary, too.  I’m sure if you follow me at all, you’ve heard his name mentioned a few times here and there… I’ve put Sable in the hot seat as we sat down to chat today. Sit back, grab your drink of choice, and read on to see what Sable had to say. She’s also going to treat us to a sample of some of her work…and let me tell you, it’s HOT stuff…

Anna: What inspired you to choose your genre (genres)?

Sable:  I have two great loves in life – a hedonistic desire to be pampered and cherished and the odd craving to be scared out of my mind. So, I am drawn to both romance and horror. Plus, I love to sit down in a cozy spot and fantasize. I have a healthy fantasy life and sometimes I get so involved in a book that I become the heroine – of course they are all me, to a degree – but I immerse myself in the daydream of how the kiss would feel or how he would look at me or what we would say. I enjoy writing romance, it lets me have the amazing experience of a first kiss, a first date, a first time – over and over. And do I get turned on? Hell yes, I do. If I can’t turn myself on with my sex scenes, I sure as heck can’t turn anyone else on. I’ve kept Amazon in business buying sex toys (yes, they do sell them and also a very good brand of Italian tomato sauce –haha) Seriously, I read romance, I have read, on average, three books a week for years and I wrote, too. But just for my own and for my friend’s entertainment. But I like a certain kind of book – I want the heroine to have insecurity issues and I want the hero to think she is perfect just the way she is. (Yes, that stems from my own life – I have lots of issues.)  I would scan hundreds of books to find that scenario and I was thrilled when I found one, but there weren’t enough, so I just decided to write me some books just the way I wanted them. I decided to try my hand at doing it, professionally. I self-published, traditionally published – and here I am. And I’m lucky that other people are drawn to them, also. I will write horror, I have two books nearly completed – one is called Nephilim and it’s about a race of hybrid angel/humans that live among us undetected and introduces two archaeologists who have a romance. I also have a Joe Black type with a happier ending that traces Death’s walk through this world and one woman who recognizes him and loves him and it’s called for the lack of a better title at the moment – Embracing Death – but that’s not the best title. Ha!

Anna: And you do such a fine job of entertaining us with your heroes, I might add. I also want to thank you for all the help you guys have given me. You, Ryan, Jess, Barb, and Deb are some of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting since I began this crazy thing called writing. Now, next question, we all have issues with balancing our time between writing, editing, promoting, along with other obligations and personal time. What works best for you?

Sable: Well, as Ryan will tell you, I work from sunup to midnight. He says I work at a frenetic pace and I have 6 or 7 projects ongoing at any one time. I write best in the morning or late at night and I, at present, have works ongoing with Ryan, Jess and Emily Laurence and am negotiating doing one with an Austin author friend of mine, Marcos London. I also have an audio book that I’m about to release that my Irish friend, Alan Cooke, narrated and also sweeter versions of the McCoys that Ryan has helped me tone the sex down. (I can’t help it, I think it’s hilarious for Ryan to be going through my manuscript toning the sex down instead of revving it up.) Part of each day, I oversee and plan marketing strategies. But I am lucky, I have help. Jess works with me, he writes articles and he twitters for me and he edits and he strategies – he’s invaluable. Barb Caruso is my assistant and she takes care of me and Ryan and Jess. We are working on doing everything from helping other authors, to FB events, to phone Apps, a glossy magazine, convention representation – you name it and we have it going on, Debbie Workman also helps me with promotion and blog scheduling and advertising. I have help at Heartfeltpromos posting on the loops and Coffeetime management helps me with my website. I can’t do it all, I don’t even try. I have an army of supporters who I think are the grandest group of people in the world – they are called Daydream Believers and anyone who likes the books is welcome to join. I have wonderful betas and editors who comb through my books and try to tone down the country accent and keep me on the straight and narrow. But I do have a tendency to want to be involved. I have been known to throw a hissy fit if I don’t understand a process, but Barb keeps me straight and Ryan keeps us both straight and Jess just sits back and laughs at it all.

Anna: Ryan toning down sex scenes?? Now that is funny.Well, moving right along since I’m still trying to wrap my head around that one…Tell us about your characters. What type of hero do you normally choose? What type of heroine?

Sable: I have a Sable Hunter code. I was trying to explain this to another author the other day. My hero is strong – he may have flaws, but he adores the heroine and there is no weakness in his emotions or what he would do for her. Think Dragon Slayer. Think about the song ‘Holding out for a Hero’ – think Hercules. Jess also puts his two cents in – none of my heroes or heroines, once they have met, can have one lascivious thought about another person – not one. They have to be totally devoted. Jess has had me take out references to Jacob even calling Libby honey or Jessie thinking Joseph is handsome – he’s a stickler. My heroines may be spunky, but they are ladies and they possess an inherent softness and tenderness. And yes, most of them are virgins – I just like that idea of belonging to one person and one person only. I have to like my characters. I have to love my characters. Even though I write erotic romances, my stories have morals and family values and yes, I have references to a belief in a God and my characters pray and they believe in miracles. I don’t have to write about just cowboys – I write about firemen and alligator wranglers and weapons designers and Texas Rangers and conservationists and detectives and governors and football players and sex therapists and Marines – we are surrounded by heroes and I want to make as many of them mine as possible.

Anna: Who are some of your favorite authors? Did they inspire you to write?

Sable: My favorite authors write in my genreLora Leigh, Maya Banks, Cherise Sinclair, Lorelei James, Sarah McCarty, Beth Kery, Heather Ranier, Leah Brooke – and I could go on and on. The one person who inspired me to write romance though – was Leslie Kelly and the book was Slow Hands. I read that – put it down and wrote A WISHING MOON.

Anna: What has been the most difficult aspect of your writing career?

Sable: The most difficult aspect of my writing career has been acceptance in my community. I have had a hard time. I was incognito – then I was exposed – I changed my pseudonym and wrote some more and was exposed the second time. I really have nothing to do with anyone in my hometown. I travel a lot, I find more acceptance in Austin and New Orleans than I do in the village where my main home is. All of my best friends live elsewhere – Canada, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, all over but none here. Jess is my closest family and friend, although my Uncle Michael wants to meet everyone, he is jealous of the attention that Ryan and Jess have.

Anna: Well, yes, I met Uncle Mike today and he is a character. Now, for some good stuff. Give us a little dirt about yourself. What’s your favorite guilty indulgence?

Sable: Oh, dirt – I love dirt. Let me see. . . . . dirt. Okay, I rarely wear underwear and if I do- it’s something exciting. Ha! I sound like Bill Murray in Stripes, but it’s true. I don’t wear underwear much – I am sorta small on top – a B cup and – heck, it’s hot down here, I like cotton sundresses against my skin and nothing else. More dirt. . . . . I watch short porn videos on xhamster and redtube for instant inspiration.  I was involved with a Dom for awhile in New York. He taught me everything I needed to know to write BADASS. His name was Bob and he wanted to walk me around New York on a leash, but I balked at that. Is that enough dirt? I’ll save some for next time.    My favorite guilty indulgence is Hagen Das Rum Raisin ice cream. And I love to watch Michael Scratch on Lingerie on Cinemax and Joe Manganiello on True Blood while I’m using one of those toys from Amazon.

Anna:   I want to know, as I’m sure many others do, how you got started writing with your brother, Jess, and also with that hot Canadian we all love, Ryan O’Leary.  Tell us a little about that.

Sable: Well, Jess is my brother. We are very close. I am 9 years older and we know each other better than anyone else. He has one great talent – communicating. He is a marvelous actor, he was on debate teams, he was in musicals in college – he is never at a loss for words, whether on paper or in person. He is poised. He is self-confident. He has written beautiful stories and articles and made great grades in college. But like me – – he doesn’t want a 9 to 5 job. He worked in the private sector for a while. He didn’t like it – he hated a cubicle. I kept telling him – come help me. He supported my writing, but he wasn’t involved. Finally, he got fed up and decided to work with me and write and he was wonderful at both. He also works with a friend, repairing furniture which allows him to live in Houston part time so he can date and attend movies and eat out and 3 days a week, he holes up here in the swamp with me. It’s the best of both worlds.    Ryan O’Leary is my best friend. We met on Facebook, as I have met all of you. It was casual, we bantered, we spoke, but we discovered that we both had writing in common. We began exchanging scenes and plans and plots and I asked him to write with me, and I was lucky enough that he said, yes. I tend to write sappy and Ryan writes saucy and when you put it together, it’s the perfect combination of flavors and textures. I wouldn’t trade Ryan for a barrel of gold monkeys. When I am upset, I talk to him. When I am scared, I talk to him. When I need a problem solved, I talk to him. He is my friend and being in business with him is just icing on the cake. He lives in a different country from me, but we have found common ground.

Anna: I am nine years older than my only brother too, so there’s another thing we have in common. And you’re a lucky gal to have Ryan as your best friend. For all the teasing I give him about being Cougar Bait, he really is about as sweet as they get. Okay, now for what everyone has been waiting for… Tell us about your newest project.

Sable: Right now, I have three projects ongoing. Ryan and I are writing Thunderbird. It will tie in to the Hell Yeah! and even have one more ARON CLUE before Skye Blue comes out later this summer. Thunderbird will have some serious issues in it, as well as some hot sex. We will deal with immigration, children born out of wedlock, Mexican drug cartels, Middle Eastern terrorist profiling, child predators, politics and love. Wow!  I’m also finishing up the much anticipated SKYE BLUE which is Noah’s story in the Hell Yeah universe and I’m working on The Guardian of My Soul with Emily Laurence. .

Forget Me NeverHere’s an excerpt from Forget Me Never, which was written by Sable, Jess, and Ryan. If you’ve read this one, you might be interested to know this will soon be released as an audio book.  Warning: It’s pretty HOT… The more she considered what Patrick had done, the more she smiled.  He loved her, he really loved her.  She wasn’t used to expecting good things in her life.  Dreaming about a future filled with love and happiness was foreign to her.  Now, it didn’t seem so far-fetched.  For the first time, happy-ever-after seemed to be within her reach.  She danced around the house and noted that he had straightened the living room, put a load of towels in the dryer and raked a pile of leaves outside.  It thrilled her that his clothes hung in her closet, his shoes sat beside her bed and his big ole’ black dog was sacked out on the couch.  All of a sudden her house seemed like a home. Patrick had left her a note in his big, bold scrawl.  Beside a trip to the nursing home, he indicated that he was meeting Revel Lee for coffee.  So, she had a little time to wait.  The chicken was out of the oven, there was a banana pudding in the fridge and now she was going to get ready for some fun.  Taking the nerf guns, she loaded both of them with bullets.  This would surprise him.  Right by the door, where he couldn’t miss them, she placed his toy gun and a note.  Then she waited.   ***** Whistling as he walked, Patrick was glad to be home.  Savannah’s house was almost as welcoming as she was.  Ciara heard him arrive and padded over to meet him.  “Where’s your mama?” he asked.  Then he noticed that a table had been pulled over in the path and there was a note – and a gun, a toy gun.  Strange.  But when he picked up the note, he smiled.  There was a lop-sided skull and cross bones drawn on it.  Obviously, he was going to be the artist in the family.  And written on it were these words: The gun is loaded.  I have one, too.  And you are under attack As of NOW!!! A wave of love for her almost knocked him down.  Could she be more perfect?  Now he knew she was his dream girl.  His baby wanted to play.  Patrick grabbed the gun and cocked it.  And no sooner had he become alert to what was around him – Savannah stepped out from behind the kitchen door, grinned, aimed and shot a nerf bullet right slap dab at his crotch.  It landed with a good little thump right on his dick. “Gottcha!  Bullseye!” “Why, you little rascal.”  He fired back and she dodged, let out the cutest bubble of giggles he had ever heard and dashed up the stairs.  Patrick took off after her.  She stopped at the top and fired again, this time it bounced off of his abs.  He returned fire and he connected with one of her tits. “Ow!” “Surrender, and I’ll kiss and make it better.” “Never!” She took off again.  He heard her footsteps falling and then heard her slide across the floor.  Bump!  Thump!  What in the world? “You realize that your ass is mine, Baby.  I’m a United States by-God Marine.  Are you ready to give up?” Silence.  Oh, that couldn’t be good.  He grinned like an idiot.  This was a side of her he hadn’t seen.  And he loved it. Patrick went into stealth mode.  He walked silently, making every move precise.  Where had she gone?  He wanted to laugh out loud, but he didn’t want to give away his position.  The hall ahead of him was empty and all the doors were shut.  Ah, the closet, she was probably in the linen closet.  Edging up to the door, he turned the knob slowly – threw it open and aimed.  It was empty.  Maybe she was in the bedroom; that would be convenient.  Once he captured her, he could ravish her. Savannah waited until just the right moment.  She had been holding the bathroom door closed with the door knob tight in her hand so when she heard him go by, she could pounce.  A stool was at hand and when she opened the door, she wasn’t going to be peering around it – he was going to be attacked from above! Oh, the man was good.  She could barely hear him moving around.  Savannah had excellent hearing.  The gift had been both a blessing and a curse, because sometimes she had heard things that she’d have been better off not knowing.  Conversations still rang in her mind, ‘Keep the little leper away from the kitchen.  We don’t want her germs everywhere.  It’s bad enough she has to be in the house.  If I had my way, we’d chain her in the back with the dog.’  Shaking her head, she pushed those thoughts out of her mind. Times had changed.  And she owed it all to the man that she was just about to – – – – attack! Patrick heard the door squeak right behind him and he wheeled around to fire – and there was nothing! “Put your hands over your head, I think I’ve got you cornered, Marine.”  He looked up and his little doll was hanging over the top of the door. She held the gun pointed right between his eyes. “You think you’ve got me, don’t you?” She had him, no doubt about it.  Savannah had him wrapped around her cute little pinky finger. “Yea, I’ve got you.  You’re mine now.” Truer words had never been spoken.  But he couldn’t let her think she was in charge here.  “No, I think you’re mine.”  And he reached up quickly, slipped his hands under her arms and pulled her to him.  “Now, I’ve got you!” “Hey, no fair!  You’re gonna hurt yourself.  I’m chubby!” “All’s fair, Love, this is WAR.”  He got amused.  “The only thing chubby about you are those luscious breasts and I wouldn’t have them any other way.”  Not giving his little POW any chance to escape, he carried her to the bedroom and tossed her on the bed.  She landed with a bounce and a giggle. But she didn’t giggle long.  He started undressing and she slid right into heat mode.  My God!  The man was hot, hard, and ripped.  And this man belonged to her?   Or he could.  If she was brave enough to reach out and take him.  In a symbolic gesture that wasn’t lost on either of them, she held out her arms.  “I want you.  I surrender.” “Damn, Baby.”  He joined her on the bed and made fast work of her clothes.  She was kissing him everywhere she could reach and he was so hard and swollen he thought he would burst.  There would be no time for preliminaries today.  “I wouldn’t trade you for anything in the whole world.  Nothing compares to your embrace.” Savannah opened herself to him – not only did she open her arms to him, she opened her thighs and gave him her vulnerability and she opened her heart and gave him her love.  “I can’t wait. Come to me, now.”  Patrick was careful with her, testing her wetness for himself before he sank deep.  But she was warm, wet and willing and wanted him desperately. “I want to make this good for you, but you’ve got me too excited.”  There was more he wanted to say, but he couldn’t find the words.  Savannah’s tight sheath clenched him so tight he saw stars.  God, it felt good.  He wanted to thrust and pump and take her hard, but she was so damn little that he held himself back. Savannah could tell he was being careful with her.  But that wasn’t what she wanted.  He was her man and she wanted him just the way he was.  “Don’t hold back.  Lose control.  I want to feel what it’s like to belong to you completely.  I want all of you.  I would never survive if I lost you, Patrick.  You are the light of my life.” Her permission released something inside of him.  One more second, he hesitated, just waiting for her body to accept him completely.  And when he felt her relax – he buried his head in her neck and gave in to the extreme pleasure of fuckin’ Savannah. “Oh, God – Oh, God – Oh, God,” she chanted as he moved powerfully in and out of her.  She wrapped her legs around his waist and dug her heels into his bottom and held on for dear life.  Waves of relief and joy and arousal whipped through her body like sparklers.  There was nowhere else in the world for her than with this man.  He was home. She was killing him.  Her whole little body was quivering and her pussy was milking him with one passionate pulse after another.  All he could do was react and piston inside of her, loving the feel of being enveloped in paradise. Awareness of all else fled; Savannah’s focus was only on the perfect in and out glide of his cock moving in flawless harmony with her body.  And she couldn’t keep still; every time she pressed down on him with her pussy walls his cock would jump and he would make the sexiest sounds.  “I never knew it could feel so good,” she panted as he pleasured her within an inch of her life. “You are mine, Savannah.”  He lifted up enough to take both of her hands and raise them over her head.  Then he locked his gaze with hers and thrust even faster. He rocked her world.  She levitated into his arms as the pressure in her clit exploded, the pleasure so intense that it took her breath away.  As she bowed upward, her breasts were thrust up and Patrick claimed a nipple and began to suck voraciously. “I love you,” she cried. Her cry was all it took – Patrick groaned harshly, his climax overtaking him.  His cock convulsed in ecstasy and he shot his life-giving essence deep within her.  One day, he promised himself, he would plant a child in her womb.  Building a life with this woman was his dearest dream.   “Honey, I love you, too.  And I promise you one thing – there is nothing in this world or the next that is going to keep us apart.”

Bio: As most of you know, I write romance novels. I write what I like to read and enjoy putting my fantasies on paper. My stories are emotional reads where the heroine is faced with challenges; like one of my favorite songs – she’s holding out for a hero – and boy, can I deliver a hero. One of the best compliments that I ever received from a reader was that I write ‘luscious sex’ – my aim is to write a story that will make you laugh, cry and sweat. If I can wring those emotions out of a reader, then I have done my job. So, please join me in my world of magic, alpha heroes, sexy cowboys and hot, steamy, to-die-for sex. Step into the shoes of my heroines and escape to places where dreams can come true and orgasms only come in multiples.

Meet Jess Hunter…Author of For A Hero

For a Hero Final copy (small version)

Welcome back to Anna’s World. Today I am welcoming Jess Hunter for a visit! Is it getting a little warm in here? Whew! Some of you know Jess, he is the younger brother of bestselling author, Sable Hunter. Well, Jess is writing now and let me tell you, this is one cute Cougar Bait you’re going to want to check out. I’ve asked him some questions, and he’s been kind enough to indulge me and give me some answers. He’s also going to treat us to a blurb from his new book, For A Hero, and he’s going to tell us a little bit about himself. Are you ready to get started? Better get your fan out, ladies. It may get a little steamy in here.

  1. 1. What inspired you to choose your genre (genres)?

Sable inspired me to write a romance novel. I’m not sure I would have otherwise. She has accomplished so much and become an integral character in the community. She showed me how this particular genre affects people and changes their lives. She receives several messages daily from people who claim that everything is different and better because of the stories she creates and shares with them. I have ideas in my head, stories that are just bursting to come out. I have horror, mystery, sci-fi, fantasy and adventure. But, because of Sable and the wonderful people she works with, I am currently working on another romance book.

  1. And we’re so glad to hear there’s another romance book in your future!  Now, tell me, we all have issues with balancing our time between writing, editing, promoting, along with other obligations and personal time. What works best for you?

Compartmentalization is the best for me. I like to tell everyone else what day I will be completely unavailable barring emergencies. I will then seal myself into a room and set my expectation for accomplishment very high and basically not come out of the room until I’ve reached it. It also helps to have a wonderful team working with you.

  1. That’s good advice for any author and is sort of what I do. And yes, you do have a wonderful team to work with. Tell us about your characters. What type of hero do you normally choose? What type of heroine?

My primary male characters are all parts of me, of course. Where else could I find a guy I knew well enough to analyze his traits and apply them to paper? But they are not just me. There are several, ancient, captivating archetypes for the hero that have been present since literature first began. David from “For A Hero” is the otherworldly visitor that falls in love and uses himself to better the world. It’s been done a hundred times. Superman,  Hercules, Sherlock Holmes and Captain Kirk are all the same character as far as story progression is concerned. In the sequel, Blaine is the abstaining sacrifice, who is essentially the same as Batman, James Bond, Theseus, and Clint Eastwood in any of his movies. They are all bigger than life and represent what every man COULD be.

My heroines are meant to be a special highlight of what makes every woman special. It is no secret that these books are targeted toward women so it makes sense that the showcase is how special and phenomenal every woman is. Every woman deserves a hero, so I do my best to show a perfectly imperfect woman in all her beauty.

  1. Wow! That’s awesome, Jess! Who are some of your favorite authors? Did they inspire you to write?

Robert Louis Stevenson is an inspiration for me. When his muse struck him, his brain would shut out the entire world and he would create a classic in a matter of days.

Ernest Hemingway did a marvelous job of capturing masculinity and struggle in his work. That is a theme I would like to tackle in the future.

F. Scott Fitzgerald always, obviously, used himself as the protagonist in his works. He discovered the secret to the art: you don’t need to look outside yourself to find inspiration. Some of the best books in the world were created by him.

One of my greatest goals is to create a character that will outlive me. Authors that accomplished this are: Ian Fleming, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Bram Stoker and Clive Cussler.

  1. What a wonderful goal to strive for.  Tell me what has been the most difficult aspect of your writing career?

The most difficult thing is growing and adapting in front of the world. The entire universe could look and see my first foray into the literary world. Of course they will find criticisms and imperfections. I can now use that piece as the starting point for my development into a much better writer, however, I will have to make that journey and all of my mistakes in front of the entire reading audience. With anything else, such as working out, martial arts, etc., I can be a beginner in privacy and nobody has to see my progress until I am adept, but as a writer, trying to make money from the art, the world will watch me stumble on the path.

6.    That’s for sure. Writing is a bit different from other careers in that respect.  Now for the good stuff all the ladies want to hear. Give us a little dirt about yourself. What’s your favorite guilty indulgence?

I don’t really feel a lot of remorse. Haha. That’s terrible to say. I still read comics, and am obsessed with superheroes. I don’t feel guilty about it, but before I explain how culturally, and literarily significant they are, some people may judge me about it. Some others may judge me anyway.

Oh, I know. I have an exhibitionist fantasy. Sneaking to be intimate in a public place in which I may get caught is very sexy to me. Shhh. Don’t tell anyone.

7.    We won’t tell…whew…did the temp just go up about a hundred degrees in here or what?  On that note, what’s it like to write hot stories with your sister, Sable? I’m not sure I could co-write with my brother…LOL. What made the two of you decide to write together?

It was weird when she started writing that kind of book, but we were always close, and I, reluctantly, got used to it. It’s no problem now. She is much better at writing intimacy than I am, so I submit to her expertise when writing a scene like that. In any other way, when we write together, it’s like rock’em sock’em robots. We just keep hitting each other until the book is done.

8. I think it’s great the way the two of you get along. I love the banter that goes on between the two of you on Facebook, as I’m sure others do too. And I love it when she tells you what to do…not that you always listen.  Now the part everyone’s been waiting for. Tell us about your newest project.

The sequel to “For A Hero” is in the works. It’s going to follow Blaine, David’s best friend. He is a very different kind of hero. The book will be darker, deeper, more detailed, and hopefully, more poignant. The story will continue where the first left off, and I will answer a lot of questions about Blaine, a character that was shrouded in mystery in the first book.

Sounds great. Now here are some links for all of you to follow for Jess.
