The next day the curvaceous beauty practically falls into his lap again, and seeing it as an opportunity to get to know her better, he pursues.

Can two warriors from two different branches of services, two different paths of life, really find the one in a wanton moment – and can it last for a lifetime?

EXCERPTS

Her Captain’s Command by Isabella Kole

The time had come. She took her bags from the driver, paid him and made her way up the plank to meet her destiny. She asked one of the seaman where she could find the captain, and he offered to escort her to him. And there he was. His back was turned to her. He was issuing orders to some of the crew already on board, and she could feel the heat beginning to grow in her limbs as she watched him, capable, still as hot as ever, taking charge. There was no doubt to his authority, he was in complete control.
He turned, and she presented herself to him. “Lt. Commander Vandecamp reporting for duty, sir,” she said as she saluted her superior officer.
The look of shock that crossed Blaine’s face was fleeting. Professionalism took over as he said, “Welcome aboard, Lt. Commander Vandecamp. I must say this is a surprise. Charlie, is it?” he asked.
Did he really not recognize her? How could that be? Had their four years together meant so little to him?
“Yes, I go by Charlie these days,” she replied warily.
“Let’s go into the office and get acquainted. I would like to go over some things with you. I trust you have all the necessary paperwork with you?” he asked.
“Of course, sir,” she responded.
He led her into the space that served as his office on the ship and waved his hand for her to sit. “Coffee?” he asked.
“Yes, please,” she answered, watching as he prepared two cups, adding cream to both. He had not asked her how she took hers, so maybe he did remember, after all.
He handed her a cup of the hot brew and sat down, facing her across the desk. “So, Charlie, tell me, how long have you been in the Navy? And where is your husband?” He took a sip of his coffee and held out his hand for her papers.
With slightly shaking hands, she handed the paperwork to him. She watched as he scanned over them and looked up, waiting for her reply.
“I-I enlisted four years after I graduated from college. I was recommended, after recruit training, to enter the OCS, so that is what I did. That was ten years ago,” she replied.
“I see. You moved up fairly quickly. Although, I enrolled in OCS fourteen years ago, so I guess I’m not that far ahead of you,” he said. “And your husband? A Navy man?”
Charlie took a sip of her drink before answering. “I met my husband in Officer Candidate School. We have since divorced, and he is no longer in the Navy. He chose to resign his commission.”
“Ah, I see,” he said without emotion. An uncomfortable silence followed until Blaine finally spoke again, “Charlotte Rose, I have to say I was quite surprised to see that you are my newly assigned XO. I can assure you that our past history will in no way reflect our working together on this ship. Is that understood?”
So he did recognize her! Her heart skipped several beats. Her mouth went dry, and she quickly took another sip of coffee before replying, “I understand, sir.”
“The United States Navy expects us to do a job. Any personal problems we have with each other are to remain just that—personal.”
“Of course, sir,” she said quietly.
“You are to follow my orders to the letter. If you can prove you can do that, we’ll have no problems. I seem to recall a bit of a rebellious nature in your personality. I trust your time with the Navy has cured you of that.”
She nearly laughed out loud. “Of course, sir,” was all she said in reply.
“Now, I’ll show you to your quarters, and after you’ve settled in, you’ll join me on deck. There is much to be done today.”
She stood and saluted him as her superior officer, although it rankled her to do so. “Yes, sir.”
She thought she could see a half smile escape his lips before he walked around to her side of the desk to escort her to her cabin.
“Shall we?” he asked.
“Of course, sir, lead the way.”
“I could get used to you calling me sir,” he said, half-teasingly, as he escorted her to her door.
She looked up at him in surprise.

Stormy Weather by Desiree Holt

Someone was out there in the bay in a little skiff, trying to get to shore. In point of fact, whoever it was appeared to have lost one of the oars, and was struggling against the elements to make headway. He couldn’t tell that much about the person except the figure was small and wet. Who in hell was crazy enough to let their kid out in this weather? Wherever they were, if Zane got hold of them he’d wring their necks. While he’d love to leave the person out there, he didn’t want to be responsible for anyone else’s death. But, fuck. There went his precious solitude.

Still swearing a steady stream, he pulled on boots, a rain slicker and head gear, and headed down to the little dock. It took him a while to get the bowrider uncovered and power it up. He hated exposing the beautiful interior of the boat to the elements but the skiff would be useless in this storm. He couldn’t in good conscience let some kid drown out there because his or her family was brainless enough to let them out alone in this kind of weather.

As soon as he was away from the dock, Zane cranked up the throttle and headed for the floundering rowboat. The rain pounded on him, dripping off his rain cap into his face, but he kept himself focused on his target. When he was close enough he throttled back and steered close to the rowboat. The person wrestling with the boat sat on one of the seats, waving at him and yelling something, impossible to hear over the storm. As he maneuvered alongside and got a good look at the person, shock raced through his system. This wasn’t a kid, it was a girl. No, a woman. Very definitely a woman, a fact made obvious by the way her thin T-shirt and white shorts were plastered against her body. Her breasts wouldn’t have been any more obvious if she’d been standing there stark naked.

What the fuck was she doing out here, alone, in this weather?

Maneuvering the boat on the choppy waters while fighting the wind and rain was not the easiest thing Zane had ever done. He also had to be careful he didn’t knock the rowboat and cause it to capsize. He managed to finesse it so he could idle next to the floundering boat, and pulled up on the side closest to where she was sitting.

“Come on,” he shouted. “Get in.”

For a moment she just stared at him, and he was afraid she was too nervous to move. Then she eased herself as close to him as she could, pushed herself up and reached out to him. Ignoring any niceties he yanked and tumbled her into the bowrider, pushing the throttle forward as soon as she was all in.

Heading back to the island he was driving right into the rain, and it felt like a thousand wet knives on his skin. He looked at his passenger, huddled low in the boat, hugging herself and shivering, and kicked himself for not bringing something to wrap around her. He’d just have to get her into a hot shower the minute they were back in the cottage.

No, Zane. Send her into the shower, not get her in. Or take her in. Pay attention.

The ride was choppy and chilling but at last he pulled up to the dock, cut the motor, and jumped out to tie off the boat. He reached a hand down to help his passenger out.

“Go on inside,” he told her. “It’s open.” When she didn’t move he scowled. “Don’t worry, you’ll be safe. I’m off women for the duration.”

She just continued to stand there, hugging herself, her eyes wide, staring at the scar on his face.

“It’s not as bad as it looks,” he told her. “A war souvenir. I might look frightening but I promise I won’t hurt you.”

“A-all right.” But still she didn’t move. Her eyes were filled with fear and he had the distinct feeling it wasn’t all caused by him.

SEAL of Her Dreams by Paige Tyler

“You’re seriously going out with a Navy guy?” From where she was leaning back on her hands on the flower-print comforter covering the bed, Melissa’s neighbor-slash-best-friend Veronica Cartwright eyed her dubiously. “I thought you had a strict no-sailor policy when it came to potential boyfriend material?”

“I do.” Melissa turned this way and that in front of the mirror mounted on the back of the door to the closet, checking out her reflection. She wanted to look nice for Kurt, but not so nice that he’d think she was interested in him. So while the little black dress hugged her curves, it didn’t show too much leg or too much cleavage, and the platform sandals didn’t scream, come and get me. “Though, to be honest, there’s absolutely no boyfriend potential here. I’m only going out with Kurt because he helped me out with my career day fiasco at school. I had twelve parents lined up for today and ten of them canceled at the last minute. If Kurt hadn’t stepped in and spent an hour playing with the kids, the entire event would have been a train wreck.”

Veronica shrugged her slim shoulders. “He sounds like a pretty good guy to me. Is there anything wrong with him other than the Navy thing? I mean, is he hideously ugly or something?”

Hideously ugly? Melissa’s lips curved. That would be a definite no. In fact, Kurt Travers was extremely attractive. Heck, she might go so far as to say he was gorgeous. There was even a part of her that was kind of psyched a guy this hot wanted to go out with her. But it was a small part, and she was smart enough to push those silly thoughts aside and forget about them. She came from a Navy family, and had seen firsthand what a woman had to deal with if she wanted to be involved with a man whose job required him to be away from home more than he was there. It had taken a toll on her mom and the family. Melissa had no desire to walk down that road again.

This date was a one-time thing. A thank-you for a man who’d helped her out of a tight spot. That was it—period, end of sentence.

Still, Kurt was freaking hot. There was no denying that. And when she’d stood close to him while they’d watched the kids run around the playground at recess, she couldn’t help but notice he smelled yummy, too. Then there was the obvious fact that the guy had a totally awesome body. Even the blue camouflage uniform he’d been wearing couldn’t hide that.

“Should I assume from the dreamy look on your face that Kurt isn’t ugly?” Veronica asked.

Their Runaway Bride by Vanessa Vale

“You will marry him.”

“I will not,” I replied.

My father stood, looming over me as I sat in one of the room’s very uncomfortable chairs. I looked at the floor, the carpet’s dark colors swirling as my eyes filled with tears. Taking a deep breath, I willed them away. My father had ruled my life, squeezed every bit of enjoyment from it until there was barely any left.

“I will not have Mr. Atherton thinking you are common. We are anything but.”

Yes, common. My father did not lower himself to be like everyone else. God forbid I stopped and petted a dog. A pedigree dog in first class. Thomas Geary did not stop to pet a dog. He did not stop to deign anyone with his miserable presence unless it was of value to him. Including me. I was just his daughter. I wasn’t a son—just a daughter who enjoyed petting dogs and helping the elderly woman on the stairs going to dinner. A daughter who refused to conform to his every wish.

“I am not common, Father. You’ve ensured that,” I countered. “But Mr. Atherton holds no appeal to me. I’ve told you that time and again.”

He walked over to me and I had to tilt my chin back to look at him. “He holds appeal to me and, more importantly, you hold appeal for him. Merging his railroad with my land holdings is crucial, Anne, and I will not have you ruining our arrangements.”

“So marriage to the man is part of the arrangement? What about love?”

Father laughed. “Love? This isn’t about love. This business venture, even this trip, it’s all about money.

Shame made my cheeks heat, for I believed in love wholeheartedly, while he did not. He’d married my mother because of an arrangement, and there had been no love between them. I didn’t remember her, but I could not imagine any woman loving my father. She was just someone to produce an heir for him, and she hadn’t even done that right. She’d made me, a female, then died giving birth to Father’s true heir. The baby boy had died as well.

He’d been stuck with me ever since. Why he hadn’t remarried and found another woman to breed, I had no idea.

I stood up and lifted my chin, met the same blue eyes as mine. I hoped that was the only thing we had in common. “I refuse.”

Owned by the Marine by Renee Rose

She was looking through his bedside drawer—the one where he kept the kinky shit. Like lube and butt plugs and…yeah. She picked up a hand paddle and spun it around. He ought to be ashamed of himself. Instead, seeing her curiosity sent a fresh surge of lust kicking through him.

“Shouldn’t you be in bed? Getting some rest?”

She jerked and looked up with guilty surprise on her face. “Uh…is this yours?” She spun the paddle around like she admired the feel of it—not like someone who was revolted.

“Yep.” He raised an eyebrow, doing his best to look stern. “Do you need a demonstration?” He toed the door open and folded his arms across his chest.

Her full berry lips parted, tongue darted out to moisten them. Her nipples tented the thin fabric of her shirt. “Yeah.”

Yeah?

He hadn’t expected that answer.

A flush had crept over her cheeks and her eyes looked dilated.

Oh God. He’d been thinking about spanking her ripe little ass since the day he first met her. But no…it was a terrible idea. She had no clue what she’d be getting herself into. He shook his head. “Sorry Dimples. I don’t think you have any idea what you’re saying.”

Her chin kicked up a notch. “Don’t be so sure, Marine.”

Was that a challenge? His cock liked her sass. Too much. He should definitely not be getting spanky with this girl right now. “Nope. You need to get your rest.” He raised his eyebrows and jerked his head toward the bed, doing his best attempt at daddy-dom, which he didn’t even know was in his repertoire.

She held the paddle out to him. Her hand shook. “I need a demonstration.” Her voice cracked.

“Kaitlyn.” He made his voice sympathetic. “The last thing you need is to get mixed up with this sort of thing after what happened to you tonight.”

She swallowed. “I want to forget. I need to feel something different. I mean…I think I might like it. Please?”

He’d like to say it was just out of sympathy that he responded to her pleading, but his cock surged and strained against his pants because the idea of dominating his sweet little neighbor heated his blood.

This was such a bad idea.

Under HIs Command (A Decadence LA novella) by Maddie Taylor

Her steps lagged and she came to a halt as she stared at Flynn leaning against her driver’s side door, tall and handsome with his arms crossed over his chest. Like Colt, he was obviously pissed—correction, fucking angry—if the clenched jaw and the twitching muscle were an accurate measure of his fury.

Cassie didn’t budge from her spot, not moving forward or back, even when he raised his hand and crooked a finger at her. She swallowed, hard.

“Don’t make me come and get you,” he warned in a steely voice.

Her heart leaped into her throat nearly choking her. She wanted to run away and hide, except she wasn’t twelve and couldn’t do that again. She took a tentative step forward. As she did, he stood up, waiting. She stopped again.

“Come here, Cassie. I won’t bite.” When she started moving again, he added, “A trip over my knee isn’t out of the question, however.”

Her eyes shot to his, but his expression was unreadable, a lethal calmness in his eyes. She’d almost prefer his anger. As she came to a stop in front of him, she launched into her practiced speech.

“I’m sorry for running out without an explanation. I was taken by surprise when unmasked. I hadn’t intended to stay. Regardless, I hope we can be professionals and put this incident behind us and go on as we were before.”

He stared at her silently for a moment. “Rehearsed that all weekend, I bet.”

She gasped, which made his lips twitch ever so slightly. “How did you know?”

“I’ve been a dominant for nearly twenty years, and have learned a few things about submissives along the way.” His fingers curled firmly around her upper arm as he walked her forward, away from her car.

“Where are we going?”

Her question went unanswered as he stopped in front of a black SUV and opened the door. “Get in.”

She tipped up her chin, biting her lip as she met his still indecipherable eyes. Curiously, she noticed they looked more steel blue, than gray today. “What are you thinking?”

“That we need to go someplace quiet and talk. When we’re done, you’ll have a decision to make. Either way, you are definitely going home with a red hot backside.”

Immerse Yourself…

blog for MDayIt’s Mother’s Day again and what better way to celebrate than with a new grandbaby? Let me explain, eight years ago, my first grandson was born on Mother’s Day. Now eight years later, we’re about to celebrate the birth of our second grandson. Those little girls all chose other days to make their debut into the world, but the boys…well…they like Mother’s Day.

What does Mother’s Day mean to you? Do you have any special memories? One of the best gifts I ever had was the year my daughter was three and my son was six months old. The hubs gave me money and said, “Head to the mall, I got it covered here.” To a stay at home mom with a colicky baby and a busy toddler, that had to be the best gift he could have given me. My mother lives in another state, about eight hundred miles away from me, so I’ll be seeing her next month, but not for Mother’s Day. Do you have special celebrations in your family?

I think the mothers I wrote about in my Fab Five series are pretty special ladies. Marianne, for example, had to experience the pain of watching her youngest son recover from a horrific automobile accident, not knowing if he would ever walk again. Angie suffered the pain of losing a baby and being told she would never carry a baby to term. Katy lost her only daughter in a head-on collision. Lizzie watched her daughter suffer the loss of her young husband days after learning she was carrying their first child. Chloe yearned for a family, but couldn’t conceive. Now, I didn’t make them suffer forever, being the nice author that I am. Things  turned around for Marianne’s family and Lizzie’s daughter eventually found happiness. Katy’s son was a source of comfort for her throughout the years. Angie found a way to make her dreams come true and Chloe…well, I can’t give everything away. Read the series and find out for yourself. Throughout the series each of the women used their strength and love to nurture, protect and encourage their offspring, much like you or I might do with our own. We watched as their children grew up and found their way, stumbling at times.

Feel free to share your special Mother’s Day memory in the comments. I look forward to hearing them. And please…be sure and visit the other blogs. There might just be a signed copy of Book One in the Fab Five series, Crossroad To Love, Crossroad Cover 3D

Sable Hunter’s Halloween Blog Hop…A True Ghost Story…

halloween-blog-hop.jpgWelcome to Anna’s World. I am taking part in Sable’s Halloween Blog Hop today and I want to share  a true to life ghost story that was told to me by a friend. I am familiar with this bit of local folklore and thought it would be fun to let all of you read it during this Halloween season.

Huron, IN is a small town located in southern Indiana and it is also the home of a real life ghost story.  The local cemetery is the home of a headstone with a chain link that grows each year. The stone has been replaced numerous times, but the chain just keeps appearing. The story goes that the chain represents the love of a man that was in the army and his girlfriend that waited for him. They were going to get married before he left, but his parents kept them from seeing each other and from getting married when they heard about the news. He went off to the war and she waited for him even though they couldn’t be together. The guy was killed in the war and they brought his body back here for a proper burial. The young girl attended the funeral, but she stood across the road and watched it from a distance. They say that today you can see the chain glow at night, and sometimes during the day you can see the young lady dressed in black standing on the other side of the road watching the funeral.  I researched this story as part of a Folklore class that I took at Indiana University.  The day I visited the gravesite, I could sense that I was being watched.  When I looked around I saw, what appeared to be, a woman in black dress, a veil covered her face, and then she disappeared.

Wow! Gave me goosebumps, how about you? We all have a ghost story or have heard one, but this one is a well-known story in the area I grew up in. People actually do visit the gravesite in hopes of seeing the chain grow another link or to catch a glimpse of the young girl dressed in black…

Now that I’ve treated you to a proper ghost story and haven’t tricked you, how about a contest? I’m giving away an ARC copy of Isabella Kole’s Accepting His Terms. She’s the spicier side of Anna, you know. I’m also giving away a signed paperback copy of Remember Our Promise and an Anna Kristell tote bag.

All you have to do is provide me with a pic of your Halloween decorations…from this year or years past. At the end of the blog hop this weekend, we’ll pick the best one, that’s all there is to it. So get out your cameras or your old pics and get busy! We’ll post the winner’s pic here next week.

Email your pics to: lee_vanhoy@hotmail.com and I, along with my assistants, Anne and Lee, will pick a winner.

Halloween

Who Is Isabella Kole?

Accepting-His-Terms-CoverWelcome back to Anna’s World! Today I have a surprise for you. I’m going to introduce you to someone very near and dear to me. Her name is Isabella Kole, or as I affectionately call her, IzzyB. Just who is Isabella Kole? Well, to be quite honest, she’s me…or the spicier side of me…

A few months ago, a group of writer friends who write erotic romance and spanking stories asked me why I didn’t try one. As most of you know, if you’ve followed me at all, Anna writes mainstream romance, some dramatic, some light, but all just a little sweet and sexy. I mentioned this to one of my publishers in passing one day and she wasn’t opposed to the idea, so I wrote a rough draft. Then one night, Sable Hunter invited me to chat with her street team and promote my books in her group. She encouraged me to come forward and tell them about IzzyB. Up until that time, I was keeping the fact that IzzyB and Anna were the same person a secret. So I told them a little about the story, Accepting His Terms, and was met with such enthusiasm I couldn’t believe it. In fact, several of the people I met that night, came to me a few weeks later and asked if they could start a street team for me. And that’s how Anna’s Fab Friends began.

The writer friends who had first encouraged me came together and helped me too. One helped me kick around different ideas for a title until together we came up with the perfect one, another read the story and offered suggestions, another one did the same. All were supportive and encouraging. Members of the street team beta read for me as the story progressed. As I began to tell people about the new book, other author friends offered to host Isabella on their blogs. Everyone, including my readers, were very receptive to the idea.

My street team and I decided to market Isabella as the spicier side of Anna…because that’s exactly who she is. Isabella’s debut erotic romance is an Anna love story with Isabella spice. There is no better way to describe it. So if you like Anna’s romances but would like it spicier…Isabella’s your gal. If you prefer Anna’s sweet and sexy stories, there are plenty of them around and more to come.

Accepting His Terms by Isabella Kole debuts October 9th from LazyDay Publishing, the same publisher who released Anna’s Fab Five series. Available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble as an ebook, it’s one you won’t want to miss. Not your ordinary spanking story…I wanted to do something just a little different…I did it my way…and I hope you’ll give it a chance. Branching out is never easy but I was determined to see this through because of all the support I was given from author friends, readers, friends, family, and my publisher. Will there be another Isabella Kole book in the near future? That remains to be seen as Anna is very busy at the moment, but if you like it, please let me know by leaving a review. If I know you like it, Isabella might be persuaded to do an encore.

Now here’s the blurb for Accepting His Terms:

Jill Lincoln has the hots for her stern, hunk of a boss, Jarrod Baine. With his piercing steel-gray-blue eyes, hair as black as coal, and a body to be enjoyed, she wonders what it would be like to be his woman. But she’s only one of many who would give her eye teeth to be in his bed.

The day Jarrod rescues her from a would-be assault by a young mail clerk; she finds that he is as attracted to her as she is to him.  As the two begin a relationship, it becomes very apparent to Jarrod that Jill is a nervous, high-strung lady and he searches for the best way to ease her tensions. Together they begin to form a strong bond as they experiment with discipline.

As the couple realizes their feelings run much deeper than an office affair, Jarrod asks her to be his wife. As they enter into a hot, passionate marriage, complete with the discipline, by mutual consent, a deeper emotional bond is formed that continues to grow much stronger over time.

But when Jill suffers a heartbreaking miscarriage and Jarrod is not by her side, she retreats into a deep, dark depression, turning away from the one man who can save her.

Will their bond be severed forever?

Did that whet your appetite at all? Just in case, let’s throw in a small excerpt:

On Saturday morning, Jarrod kept his word and phoned Jill to tell her he would pick her up at noon.

She flew around her apartment, straightening, fluffing pillows, and making sure everything was in place. Then she treated herself to a long soak in a cherry-blossom scented bubble bath before getting dressed for their date. She chose a green floral sundress and a pair of sandals. It was spring in Tennessee and the weather had turned warm. After her makeup and hair were near perfect, she sat on the couch waiting for him to arrive.

At eleven-forty-five, her doorbell rang, she sprang from the couch and let him in.

“I’m early, I know, these are for you,” he said as he entered the room and handed her a bouquet of flowers.

“Flowers?” she asked, “Thank you.”

“Have you eaten?”

“No, I had a late breakfast,” she replied.

“Good, there’s a nice little Italian restaurant in the winery. I thought we could have lunch there before we do our wine tasting.”

“Oh, that sounds fantastic. I love Italian food.”

He grinned. “Are you ready to go?”

As he drove to the winery, she said, “I thought it would seem odd to be out with you, but it doesn’t. The other night at dinner was the only time we’ve been together outside the office.”

“It feels perfectly natural to me, Jill,” he replied as he cast a sideways glance in her direction.

She smiled and asked him about the music playing in his CD player.

When they reached the winery, he walked around and opened her car door, helped her out, and took her hand as they walked inside.

They sat at a corner table and as Jill looked around, she said, “This is nice. I like the atmosphere.”

“Romantic?” he teased.

She blushed and took a sip of her water.

“So after we finish touring the winery, what would you like to do?” he asked.

“You mean there’s more?” she asked with a smile.

“If you’d like; we can extend this afternoon date into an evening date. Do you dance?”

“I love it,” she replied.

As his hand reached across the table to caress hers gently, she shivered. As her gaze met his, she saw amusement in his eyes.

“Are you cold, sweetheart?” he asked with a sexy grin.

“Uh… no…” she stammered.

Their lunch arrived and the moment passed. As they made pleasant small talk and enjoyed their food, Jill found herself becoming aroused. The sound of his voice, the look in his eyes, and the touch of his hand made her nipples harden and heat to flow through her veins. She caught him watching her and she was sure he’d looked down at her breasts. She shivered again.

“Are you sure you’re not cold?” he asked again, the amused look back in his eyes.

“I’m really quite… warm,” she answered with her sweetest smile.

“I can see that,” he said in a low voice as he leaned across the table. “I think we should get started on our tour before you get any… warmer.”

She stood up and took the hand he offered. As they made their way to the winery, he leaned over and whispered in her ear, “You’re cute when you’re… bothered.”

“Bothered? What makes you think I’m bothered?” she asked.

“Your body betrays you, my dear,” he teased as he leaned over to kiss her.

They began their tour, tasting many of the different wines offered and finally Jill chose her favorite, a sweet red.

“We’ll save it for a special occasion,” he said as they walked to his car.

“Where are we going dancing?” she asked.

“Well, this is Tennessee. Where else but a good old country dance hall?” he asked.

“You… like country?” she asked in surprise.

“I’m an old-fashioned southern country boy at heart.”

“I never would have guessed that,” she said as he pulled out of the parking lot.

They arrived at one of the well-known bars in town and as they sat waiting for the band to begin playing, he asked if she was hungry.

“A little, how about you?” she replied.

“They have great wings here, how about it?”

“Sure, that sounds good.”

They talked some more about movies they’d like to see, books they’d read, and when their wings arrived, they ate, laughed, and talked some more. It was becoming more and more natural for her to be in his company. He really was quite different away from the office. There was still a commanding presence, but there was also a softer, more romantic side to Jarrod Baine.

“Oh, look, the band is ready to play,” she said as she looked up at the stage.

“And they’re starting with a slow song. Let’s go,” he said as he stood and took her hand.

As she was whisked into the arms of the man she’d spent months dreaming about, Jill melted. The moment he pulled her close to his chest, she knew there was nothing she wouldn’t do for this man. She was his. Whether he knew it yet or not, she would surrender to him, and she would love him for as long as he wanted her in his life.

She looked up at him and caught sight of the corners of his mouth turned slightly upward. His eyes danced as they gazed at her. She put her head on his shoulder and as he pulled her closer, he whispered, “I could stay like this all night.”

She nestled closer, letting her right hand tease the hair at the nape of his neck. Her body was on fire, as a warm wetness flowed from within. Her nipples were aching, begging for attention. Her left hand moved down his back.

“If you don’t stop that, I’m going to take you to the parking lot and have my way with you in the car,” he warned as he nibbled at her ear.

“In that case, I won’t stop,” she teased.

“Oh, you’ve got such sass… you know I owe you a spanking for putting yourself at risk, for staying late that night, and now with all the sass and teasing you’ve been throwing around, I think you’ve had your three strikes. You’re out, baby.” He spoke in a low, husky voice.

“Three strikes? I’m out?” she asked as she raised her face his.

Happy Birthday Rebel Ink Press!

SummerLovin_Button (2)Welcome to Anna’s World! Happy third birthday Rebel Ink Press! We’re all about Summer Lovin’ here today. What do you love about summer? I love ROAD TRIPS!

That’s one of my favorite things and this year we took a road trip the week of July 4th to Iowa to visit our son and his family. Every year for the past six years, our son’s employer throws a huge holiday bash, a hog roast, carry-in dinner, and fireworks show. Our son, who been trained to do so, in in charge of the show from start to finish, including choosing, purchasing, choreographing, setting up for, and setting off the fabulous nearly thirty minute show. And I do mean spectacular! People come from miles around to watch his show and he has become somewhat of a celebrity over the years in his small town, at least for one night each year! It was a proud moment for his family to be a part of it this year as we hadn’t been able to attend in previous years.

20130815-032100.jpg

That was one of the summer lovin’ moments for me this year. Now as summer draws to an end, we have some more fun for you as we celebrate Rebel Ink Press turning three. Some of Rebels’ titles are priced at $.99 through August 17, including my own, Unlikely Lovers. We are also having a huge giveaway which includes a kindle, some awesome swag, and some signed paperbacks, including a copy of my Sunny’s Love. I’ll post a list of participating authors at the end so you can click on them and visit each one. Be sure and click on the rafflecopter link on each one to enter the giveaway!

20130815-032027.jpg

Another of my Rebel releases, Remember Our Promise just came out last week. This has to be, hands down, one of my favorite books, for several reasons.

David and Lily were high school sweethearts, who made a promise to each other one hot August night, before they both left for different colleges. They promised to reconnect the year they turned thirty…and they went their separate ways…weird thing to promise you say? Well, as fate would have it, they ran into each other quite by accident…and you guessed it…it was twelve years later. Hmm, wonder what happens next? Do you think he remembers the promise? Does she?

20130815-031916.jpg

You can find out by purchasing the book, Remember Our Promise at Barnes&Noble, Bookstrand, AllRomance, or Amazon as an ebook or at Amazon as a paperback. The readers who’ve enjoyed the book so far requested that I write a sequel and since I usually try to do what the readers want, there will be two more making up the Promises Trilogy in 2014. I already have the titles and storylines in my mind, so just as soon as I finish some other projects, the readers will get their wish.

I’ve often said Remember Our Promise wrote itself…and it did…literally. It took me along for the ride and it was an exciting one, let me tell you. David is quickly becoming a favorite “book boyfriend” among my readers or so I’ve been told. If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting him yet, I suggest you give him a try.

Save A Tree…Read An E-Book…Or Two…Or…

EarthDayHop_ButtonWelcome to Anna’s World once again. I’m pleased to be a part of Rebel Ink Press’s Earth Day Blog Hop this year, along with several other Rebel authors. Since it’s Earth Day, what better way to get your green on than to read an e-book? Since I became involved in the world of e-books this year, many people have asked why are my books e-books, what’s the big thing with e-readers etc… I’ll have to admit, I was a paperback/hardback reader myself, like a lot of my readers. Since discovering my kindle, though, I rarely pick up anything else. Amazingly, many of my family and friends bought Nooks and Kindles solely for the purpose of downloading MY books and have told me they love them and don’t know why they waited so long to make the purchase. I always tell people that are still hesitant to use the free kindle app, before purchasing one. and most of them find they love it. Of course, there will always be those who actually want the feel of a “book” in their hands when they read, and that’s fine, but think of all the paper being saved, and think of all the stories you can carry around with you on your e-reader when you travel. Think about how many “books” you’d have to carry in its place…now I’ll bet you never thought of that, did you?

I have a couple of suggestions for that Nook or Kindle of yours. Rebel Ink Press has released two of my romances so far this year with a few more coming later in the year. Let’s talk about the two already out. One or both of them may be just the kind of read you’re looking for. I write contemporary romance, a sweeter sexy read, not erotica. Don’t let that stop you, though, because I’ve had readers who only normally read paranormal, or DD, or mystery, or Sci-Fi, tell me they read one of my books as a favor to me or out of curiosity, or for something different. Guess what-yep-you guessed it…they were pleasantly surprised to find it was a refreshing change of pace for them. I’ve had erotica readers tell me they loved my stories, they’re sweet, sexy, romantic, hot, real old-fashioned romance. One reader said after reading Sunny’s Love, “Vanilla will never be the same.” So no matter what your normal style of reading may be, step out of the norm, go green, read an e-book with a little different flavor than what you’re used to. You might find you like it!

UnlikelyLovers_CoverUNLIKELY LOVERS

When Army Major Jessica Walsh meets local factory worker, Cody Jones, she finds herself staring straight into the eyes of the man who’s been haunting her dreams for the past few nights. Fresh from a breakup with her cheating ex, Jessica sets out to seduce the sexy brown-eyed man in the hopes of a brief rebound affair. Getting more than she bargained for, she falls in love with him, but has kept a secret about who she really is.

On the night she plans to tell him the truth, Cody plans to propose. But before either of those things can take place, they run into Jessica’s ex, who cruelly spills the beans. Angry and heartbroken, Cody ends the relationship, turning to a bottle for comfort. Jessica’s hurt, she accepts his decision. While they find they can’t stay away from each other, they can’t seem to work out their differences, either. Will the unlikely lovers be able to overcome the obstacles in their lives and find their happy ever after?

***Author Note:  Yes, Jessica and Cody soon find out that half-truths and deceit are the quickest way to end a relationship, no matter how strong the attraction…follow their journey as they attempt to rebuild their lives after sweet, passionate love and devastating heartbreak. Will they do it apart…or together… or will they destroy each other in the process?  Walks around the lake, enjoying the beautiful, green scenery, the trees, water, and mountains are a favorite with these two, by the way.

SUNNY’S LOVE

sunnys-love-cover.jpgAnd my latest Rebel release and one that I’ve had a lot of readers tell me they absolutely LOVED…is…Sunny’s Love. I know if you’ve been following my blog, I’ve posted quite a few times about this book, but as more and more readers contact me personally and tell me how much they liked it, I feel others need to be given the opportunity to know a little about it…so I’ve posted a few excerpts…in last week’s post and one a few weeks before that. Feel free to check those out. Here’s the Blurb for SUNNY’S LOVE.

Sunny Drake has had a few bad years.  First she lost her beloved father. Then her long time boyfriend married someone else.  Now the doctor she works for is retiring. When Sunny meets widowed, restaurant mogul Chase Dupont, who is suddenly in need of a nanny, she agrees to take the job, never dreaming the journey it will lead her on.

To save his business from being taken over by another company, Chase asks Sunny to marry him. It will be a marriage of convenience but it will be for life. She agrees since she’s already in love with him. But can she make him love her, too?

When Sunny suffers a fall and lies unconscious for days, Chase realizes all he’s ever wanted is Sunny’s Love. But a mystery begins to unravel as they realize Sunny’s fall wasn’t an accident. Someone is trying to murder her. Will Sunny and Chase get the chance to admit their true feelings to each other?  Or is it too late?

***Author Note:  Sunny and Chase, ah…not your ordinary couple, but the heat between the two of them is undeniable. From walks on a sunny Florida beach to Sunny’s solitary walks in the woods behind their Des Moines home, they know how to enjoy the beauty of nature. Find out why readers of many other genres are loving this book. A little bit sweet, a little bit sexy, and a little bit of mystery thrown in.
